IC Softball Drops Two Games Over Weekend Competition

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ELLISVILLE, Mo.- The Illinois College softball team competed on the road in two contests this weekend. The team fell in game one against Nebraska Wesleyan University with a final of 3-0, and came up short in a close game against #9 DePauw University with a final of 2-3. 

Game 1- Illinois College 0, Nebraska Wesleyan 3

IC faced the Prairie Wolves in game one of the Saturday doubleheader. The team would come up short to fall to Nebraska Wesleyan to drop to 3-6 overall on the season. 

Game 2- Illinois College 2, #9 DePauw 3

The Lady Blues would face a tough opponent in their second game of the day in #9 ranked DePauw University. Illinois College would strike first after a double by Maddy Morgan brought in two runs by Madisyn Webster and Jessica Belzer in the bottom of the first inning. 

Depauw would get on the board in the top of the fifth with a run to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Lady Blues would hold onto the lead heading into the top of the seventh. The Tigers were able to put up two runs in the seventh to gain their first lead of the game over the Lady Blues. Illinois College was not able to answer in the bottom of the seventh and would suffer a loss in a close game. 

Sydney Hood recorded the loss after pitching the full seven innings recording six strikeouts.

The Lady Blues will look ahead to take on Webster College at home Wednesday, 3/10 at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
