GALESBURG, Ill.- The Illinois College women's volleyball team earned a win on the road against the Knox College Prairie Fire with a final score of 25-16, 25-20, 25-20. This improves the Lady Blues to 3-4 overall this season.
Sam Sabo led the team with 11 kills on the day and a hitting percentage of .667.
Abbie Horstmann was also able to reach double figures in kills with 10.
Morgan Burr led the team in assists recording 41 in the contest.
Jen Humbolt was able to lead the squad defensively totaling 14 digs.
The Lady Blues were able to start off strong jumping to an early lead in the first set. The team would control the lead for the entirety of the first set to take the lead 1-0 in the match.
Knox would look to put up a fight in the second set in hopes of tying the match. Illinois College would pull away after a kill by
Reagan Gifford capped off an 11-3 run to put the Lady Blues ahead 19-10. Illinois College would take the victory in set two 25-20.
Knox College would take the lead 17-14 in the third set to try and extend the contest. IC would put together a 9-1 run to jump to a commanding lead with the score at 23-18. IC would finish the third set on a kill by Horstmann to earn their third win of the season.
The team will host Knox College this Saturday, 3/27 at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
