GALESBURG, Ill.- The Illinois College men's and women's golf team traveled to compete in the Purple and Gold Classic hosted by Knox College on Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. The women's team placed first out of four teams and the Blueboys earned a tie for second place out of seven teams.
Haley Walker was the Lady Blues standout finishing the tournament with a total score of 157. This was enough to earn her a first place finish overall in the individual competition. Walker posted her personal best going under 80 strokes in both of her rounds.
Amy Fowler finished second overall individually with a final score of 162.
Katie Mae Milhiser (168) and
Alyvia Burr (174) rounded out the first place team for the Lady Blues.
The men's team was led by
Jarrett James who finished with a score of 151 to earn a tie for fourth place individually.
Tre Wahlig placed tied for 11th overall with a total score of 155.
Tobin Nell (156),
Samuel Frericks (156), and
Dane Huber (163) finished out the second place team for the Blueboys.
The Illinois College Lady Blues will compete next in the SLIAC Women's Golf Championship on Saturday, 10/9 through Monday 10/11.
