IC Volleyball Drops Two Matches in Central College Invitational

PELLA, Iowa- The Illinois College Lady Blues traveled to wrap up their 2021 regular season on Saturday in the Central College Invitational. The team fell in both of their matches against North Park University 2-3 and Nebraska Wesleyan 0-3. This drops the Lady Blues to 11-14 overall. Brenna Dameris was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Sutphen Invitational. 

Game 1- Illinois College 2, North Park University 3

The Lady Blues faced North Park University in their first match of the tournament. The Lady Blues suffered a loss to the Vikings after five sets 18-25, 26-24, 22-25, 26-24, 8-15.

Dameris led the team with 17 kills followed by Reagan Gifford with 16. Morgan Burr had an outstanding performance setting her teammates up for success with 48 assists in the contest. This puts Burr over the 1000 assist mark in her career at Illinois College. IC was led defensively by Jen Humbolt with 29 digs. She was followed by Gifford (12) and Logyn Little (12) who were also able to reach double figures in digs. 

Game 2- Illinois College 0, Nebraska Wesleyan 3

IC then faced Nebraska Wesleyan in their second match of the tournament. The team suffered another loss with a final of 21-25, 18-25, 22-25. 

Dameris led the team in the second match with nine kills. She was followed by Abbie Horstmann with seven kills in the contest. Burr totaled 27 assists, while Humbolt led the defense with 21 digs. 

Illinois College will continue their season taking on Grinnell College in the first round of the Midwest Conference Championship Tournament on Friday, 11/5 at 4:30 PM.
