JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- IC loses the best of 3 series to The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers 1-2 in a very tense and competitive series. The Gophers were heavy favorites based on player rank, but IC came out strong with a game 1 victory.
Seniors Dave Thompson "Holmgeirr" and
Ethan Elmore "IC Hulk" led the way with outstanding performances on Sett and Olaf respectively. The Blue Boys were able to get ahead 3 drakes to 1 against UM which put pressure on the Gophers. Then it was Mid Laner ChristianVaracalli "Temporary" who found the aggressive engages on Sylas which created multiple positive plays and eventually the game winning pick that lead to an IC team fight win and a push to the nexus.
Game 2 saw a strong early game performance by the bot lane of IC, AD Carry
Tim Blackwell "Timmy Tam" and Support
Tristan Fissette "Loneforce". IC was able to secure the first 3 drakes off the back of bot lane's pressure, and some swift shotcalling by Timmy Tam, but it was UM that was able to contest drake soul with Master Mid Laner Malefic Truth on Corki with his overwhelming package ability.
This eventually led to a swing in the game and a UM victory, taking the series to a game 3. In the final game UM came out swinging and found an early lead. IC battled back the best they could but eventually fell in what was a convincing win for the Gophers.
