JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Week 4 of Collegiate League of Legends was played against Southwest Baptist University, as both teams came into week to with a record of 2-1.
Game 1 was even for the first 15 minutes of the game. IC was losing teamfights, but were able to stay ahead in gold in large part due to farm leads in all of the lanes. A big turning point in the game was the great macro calls from IC, being able to split push with the Yorick pick top lane and taking free objectives, including baron, when Southwest Baptist sent two to three members of its team to stop Yorick from split pushing.
Game 1 ended at 25:33 with a final kill score of 14-12 in favor of IC. Stat leaders for IC were Dalton "Prankuru" Swaino with a KDA of 4/0/2 and 42% of the team's damage, followed by Adam "IC Chill" Lee with a KDA of 3/2/6 and 22% of the team's damage.
Game 2 was much slower in the early game with not much action going on besides farming for the first 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, Southwest Baptist started playing really well with well-timed roams on the top half of the map, grabbing an early four-kill lead and a 3k gold lead at 14 minutes.
Teamfights and macro seemed to be traded back and forth between both teams. Southwest Baptist was able to take two free towers bot with IC taking a top tower, but they overstayed and IC picked up a three-for-one team fight win due to their overstay, as well as a free mid tower to even out the gold Southwest Baptist was able to pick up. The rest of the game was both teams doing a baron dance, trading vision and team fighting around baron and dragon vision.
The big turning point of game 2 came right after IC lost a team fight. Southwest Baptist went straight to baron and would have surely ended the game afterwards, but Dylan "IC Storm" Cawthon was able to get into the baron pit and steal baron, saving the game for IC.
Southwest Baptist started up elder dragon shortly after and IC Storm was able to steal elder dragon, with IC winning the team fight right after and then pushing to end the game at 46:56 with a final kill score of 24-24. Stat leaders for IC were Tony "King Me" Bautista-Foti with a KDA of 11/3/6 and 32% of the damage followed by Dalton "Prankuru" Swaino with a KDA of 6/7/11 and 32% of the team's damage.
