MONMOUTH, Ill.
– The Illinois College track & field teams took part in the unscored Fighting Scots Invite on Saturday. The meet was the last tune-up for the Blueboys and Lady Blues prior to the Midwest Conference Championships, which will be held back at Monmouth College next weekend.

The Lady Blues made the biggest splash on Saturday on the track. The 4 x 100 Meter Relay team of Joselynn Allen, Bailey Leitschuh, Olivia Molette and Andrea Hyde crushed the school record that they had just set one week ago with a winning time of 47.86 seconds. Hyde also went on to set a season-best in the 100 Meter Dash with a 12.05, nearly half-a-second faster than anyone else in the field and tied for 10th nationally in Division III. Hyde and Allen finished 1-2 in the 200 Meter Dash with Hyde winning the event in 25.58 and Allen taking second in 25.95.

In the men's 100 Meter Dash, Greg Cross matched his fastest time ever by winning the race in 10.80 seconds. Brett Peifer wasn't far behind, taking fourth in 11.00 seconds. Cross would also finish third in the 200 Meter Dash, a blink of an eye ahead of Dominic Aiello in fourth. Cross broke the line in 22.51 seconds, while Aiello finished in 22.52 seconds.

In other men's track events, Jaxon Rieke was fourth in the 400 Meter Dash (51.27 seconds) and Nick Mucciante and Ben Rakers finished back-to-back in the 110 Meter Hurdles. Mucciante was third in 16.11 seconds and Rakers was fourth in 16.43 seconds.

Illinois College also had a number of notable finishes in field events. Michael Nolte won the men's pole vault by default after he was the only performer to clear the bar, taking first with a height of 11-1.75 (3.40 meters). Levon Hendricks took second place in the men's triple jump at 42-8 (13.00 meters) and Molette was second in the women's long jump with a distance of 16-3.25 (4.96 meters).

The Blueboys and Lady Blues combined for six third-place finishes in the meet. Anthony Flores had two of them in the discus (141-4, 43.09 meters) and hammer (160-1, 48.80 meters). Peifer was third for the Blueboys in the long jump (21-4.25, 6.51 meters). Leitschuh did the same for the Lady Blues in the triple jump with a leap of 33-5.25 (10.19 meters). Ali Pankey and Chris Moore each were third in the high jumps as Moore cleared 6-0 (1.83 meters) and Pankey cleared 4-10.25 (1.48 meters).

The 2018 MWC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held at Monmouth on May 11 and 12. The meet begins at 12:30 p.m. on Friday and will continue starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
