NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College track & field teams had two individuals competing on Wednesday at North Central College's Gregory Invitational as members of the Blueboys and Lady Blues try to solidify qualifying spots for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
On Wednesday, the focus was on the throwers as sophomores
Anthony Flores and
Jenna Kennedy took part in the discus and hammer throw. Flores set a new PR in the hammer throw as he unfurled an effort of 164-0 (50.00 meters) to finish in seventh place. That distance bests his previous mark for the second-longest throw in school history. His best throw in the discus covered 140-7 (42.86 meters), placing him sixth in the field.
Kennedy took 11th overall in the discus with a throw of 104-9 (31.93 meters). She also ended up in 15th place in the hammer throw at 131-0 (39.94 meters).
Action continues tomorrow at the Gregory Invitational as the Illinois College sprinters will join
Levon Hendricks and
Brant Bess in a much busier day of events for the teams. Competition will begin at 11:45 a.m.
