JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College track & field program will have representatives from both its men's and women's programs at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships next week in La Crosse, Wis. The NCAA released its list of qualifiers this weekend, and the Blueboys will have their men's 4 x 100 Meter Relay competing at the event while the Lady Blues will be represented on the track for the second year in a row by Andrea Hyde in the 100 Meter Dash.

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) also released its All-Region selections for 2018. All-region status was earned by being among the top five in a region in an individual event or among the top three in a region in a relay. Both Hyde and the men's 4 x 100 took home All-Midwest Region honors this season, as did senior Brant Bess in the men's javelin.

At Thursday's Gregory Invitational, the Blueboys had Nifesimi Williams, Brett Peifer, Chris Moore and Greg Cross blast their previous school record, lowering their time from 41.60 seconds to 41.18 seconds. They now rank in a tie for sixth nationally.

Hyde has a season PR of 12.05 seconds in the 100 Meter Dash from Fighting Scots Invite on May 5. That time puts her in a tie for 12th nationally entering the national meet.

Bess' best throw in the javelin this season of 195-10 (59.69 meters) put him in second place in the Midwest Region behind Caleb Lundquist of North Central College. Though Bess did not qualify for the national meet, he ends the year ranked 22nd in the nation.

The Blueboys will run the prelims of the 4 x 100 Meter Relay on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. If the Blueboys are able to advance, the final would be on Saturday at 12:05 p.m. For Hyde, the prelims of the 100 Meter Dash are on Friday at 4:45 p.m. If she advances to the final, that race would be run on Saturday at 1:40 p.m.
