JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Though portions of the Illinois College track & field teams were competing at the Drake Relays, the Blueboys and Lady Blues also hosted a home meet on Friday evening, the team's lone outdoor home meet of the season. The Blueboys ended in sixth place with 51.5 points at the meet, while the Lady Blues took 10th with 24 points.
The IC men had three top-three finishes on the day.
Nick Mucciante ended as the runner-up in the 110 Meter Hurdles in a time of 16.22 seconds.
Anthony Flores took third place in two events, throwing the hammer a distance of 161-9 (49.31 meters) and the discus a distance of 141-10 (43.23 meters).
The Lady Blues had some success on the track as the women's 4 x 100 Meter Relay team of
Dazha Shelby-Woods,
Emily Woods,
Alexa Walker and
Madison Klanke raced to fourth place in 51.62 seconds. Klanke added a fourth-place showing in the 400 Meter Dash in 1:04.00. The other runner to score for the Lady Blues was
Ashlyn Haage in the 5,000 Meters. The sophomore ended with a time of 20:50.49 to place eighth in the event.
The IC men added onto Mucciante's finish in the 100 Meter Hurdles with two other top-eight finishes.
Ben Rakers was fifth in 16.91 seconds and
Dakota Stevens was seventh in 17.95 seconds. Stevens was also seventh in 59.45 seconds in the 400 Meter Hurdles. In the 5,000 Meters,
Dillan Sorrells matched Haage by finishing eighth with a time of 17:24.35.
In two relay events, the Blueboys earned points with a pair of sixth-place finishes. The 4 x100 Meter Relay team of Asante Bright,
Dakota Stevens,
Ben Rakers and
Lucas Motley posted a time of 45.10 seconds. The 4 x 400 Meter Relay team of
Austin Spriggs,
Kyle Adams, Motley and
Sammy Salinas crossed the line in 3:40.12.
In other men's field events,
Sean Kisch tied for fourth place in pole vault by clearing a height of 13-3.50 (4.05 meters).
Levon Hendricks ended with a fifth-place effort in triple jump with a distance of 42-2 (12.85 meters) and also took seventh in long jump with a leap of 19-1.50 (5.83 meters). In the high jump, Spriggs cleared the bar at 5-8 (1.73 meters). Two other point-scorers for the Blueboys were Rakers with an eighth-place finish in the long jump at 19-1.25 (5.82 meters) and Motley with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump at 39-11.25 (12.17 meters).
In women's field events,
Monica Pappas took fifth place in the long jump with an effort of 16-2.50 (4.94 meters).
Jenna Kennedy also was fifth in the hammer with a throw of 148-6 (45.26 meters) and was sixth in discus at 119-3 (36.34 meters).
MacKenzie Heinz added a seventh-place finish in the hammer at 137-2 (41.82 meters).
Illinois College will have its final tune-up before the Midwest Conference Championships next weekend, competing in the Fighting Scot Invite on May 5 starting at 11 a.m.
