TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Illinois College track & field teams set three relay records on Friday night at the Rose-Hulman Twilight ahead of next week's Drake Relays. The Blueboys ended the night in third place with 118.5 points, while the Lady Blues took fourth place with 56.5 points.
For the second week in a row, the men's 4 x 100 Meter Relay of
Nifesimi Williams,
Brett Peifer,
Chris Moore and
Greg Cross won the event and set a new Illinois College record, this time lowering their time to 41.60 seconds, clipping off a full quarter-second from last week's performance. The Blueboys are currently fourth in the nation in the event.
Another IC men's record was set in the 4 x 400 Meter Relay. Peifer,
Jaxon Rieke,
Dominic Aiello and Moore combined for a time of 3:18.30 to finish second in the event, ranking seventh nationally.
The final new school record came from the IC women in the 4 x 100 Meter Relay.

Bailey Leitschuh,
Dazha Shelby-Woods and
Andrea Hyde won the event with a time of 48.77 seconds, putting themselves up to 25th nationally in the relay.
Illinois College also excelled on the track in individual events. Hyde won the women's 100 Meter Dash (12.55 seconds) and 200 Meter Dash (26.28 seconds). Peifer won the 400 Meter Dash in 48.72 seconds, setting the second-best time in program history. He also ran a time of 22.09 seconds in the 200 Meter Dash as the Blueboys went 2-3-4 in the event with Cross taking third (22.37 seconds) and Moore finishing fourth (22.43 seconds). Cross was the runner-up in the men's 100 Meter Dash in 11.16 seconds, with Williams taking fourth in 11.32 seconds.
In field events,
Brant Bess won the men's javelin at 192-8 (58.74 meters). The hammer throw was highlighted by a pair of PRs.
Anthony Flores had the second-best hammer throw in Blueboy history at 161-7 (49.26 meters), while
Jenna Kennedy had the fourth-best hammer throw ever for the Lady Blues at 139-2 (42.43 meters).
Other top finishes for Illinois College included a third-place showing from Flores in the discus throw with an effort of 139-10 (42.62 meters).
Levon Hendricks ended third in the long jump at 20-10.75 (6.37 meters), while also finishing fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 43-5 (13.23 meters). Moore was fourth in the long jump just behind Hendricks at 20-10 (6.35 meters).
Austin Spriggs took fourth in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-8.75 (1.75 meters). In the 110 Meter Hurdles,
Ben Rakers finished fourth in 16.22 seconds.
A number of Blueboys and Lady Blues were named as unofficial qualifiers for the Drake Relays next week. The official qualifiers come out in the coming days and the full Illinois College traveling party will be announced then.
Illinois College has also added an event to its schedule to make up for the cancelled Lee Calhoun Invitational earlier this month. Select members of the team will travel to Monmouth College on April 24 for the Fighting Scots Midweek starting at 5 p.m.
