ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Illinois College track & field teams had several excellent showings from field events on Friday and Saturday at the John Creer Invitational, a meet hosted by Lindenwood University. The Blueboys had three event victories on the weekend, all of which came from throws events, helping IC to a fourth-place finish in the men's competition. The Lady Blues tied for sixth on the women's side.
Anthony Flores was the star of the weekend for Illinois College, winning the men's shot put and hammer throw while taking fourth in the discus. Flores had the fourth-best effort in IC history in the hammer, winning with a toss of 157-10 (48.11 meters). He also claimed victory in the shot put with a distance of 42-0 (12.80 meters), and hurled the discus 137-4 (41.85 meters).
The other Illinois College event victory came from
Brant Bess in the men's javelin. The senior overcame the windy conditions for a distance of 174-11 (53.32 meters), winning by nearly 20 feet.
The Blueboys' best showing on the track came in the form of a runner-up finish from the 4 x 100 Meter Relay team of Nife Williams,
Brett Peifer,
Chris Moore and
Dominic Aiello. The four combined for a time of 42.21 seconds, the third-best time in school history. Peifer, Moore and Aiello also took part in the 4 x 400 Meter Relay, where the Blueboys took third. With Peifer leading off and Moore running the final leg,
Jaxon Rieke and Aiello helped cross the finish line in 3:24.35.
Peifer had a top individual effort to his credit as well, finishing third in the 200 Meter Dash in 24.24 seconds.
Sean Kisch ran the 110 Meter Hurdles in 16.14 seconds to take third, adding a fourth-place finish in the pole vault by clearing a height of 13-11.75 (4.26 meters).
Levon Hendricks had the final top-five finish for the Blueboys on Saturday, leaping 20-1 (6.12 meters) in the long jump.
On Friday at the Washington University Distance Carnival,
Dillan Sorrells notched a time of 36:49.30 in the 10,000 Meters as Illinois College's lone entry into the meet.
Andrea Hyde produced two top-five finishes on Saturday for the Lady Blues, ending as the runner-up in the 100 Meter Dash (12.59 seconds) and the fifth-place finisher in the 200 Meter Dash (26.30 seconds).
Hyde also ran the final leg of the 4 x 100 Meter Relay, which came in third.

Olivia Molette and Hyde completed the lap of the track in 50.22 seconds. The best field event finish for the Lady Blues was
Jenna Kennedy in the discus. The sophomore took fourth place with a throw of 122-7 (37.37 meters).
Illinois College heads to Macomb, Ill. next weekend for the Lee Calhoun Invitational. Action begins at 1 p.m. on April 6 and continues starting at 9 a.m. on April 7.
