Box Score 2 JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College volleyball team lost twice on Friday afternoon at the Barker Chevrolet Volleyball Classic, losing in straight sets to Ohio Northern University and Coe College. The Lady Blues fall to 3-4 on the season.
Illinois College will be back in action next week, hosting the Illinois College Volleyball Tournament at Sherman Gymnasium. The Lady Blues will face Missouri Valley College and Wisconsin Lutheran College on Sept. 18, then wrap up the tournament with Olivet College and Concordia University (Chicago) on Sept. 19.
Ohio Northern 3, Illinois College 0
(17-25, 23-25, 10-25)The Lady Blues led off the day with a tough match against a solid opponent out of the Ohio Athletic Conference. Ohio Northern improved to 4-1 with the three-set sweep of Illinois College, led by 10 kills apiece from Ellie Gillespie and Kaitlann Hogrefe. Three other Polar Bears had seven kills in the match.
For Illinois College,
Lisa Lowry paced the offense with eight kills.
Rebecca Shields had six kills as well.
Courtney Louveau had a double-double with a team-high 12 assists and 12 digs.
Allison Perkins led the Lady Blues with 18 digs.
Coe College 3, Illinois College 0
(19-25, 18-25, 17-25)Though Illinois College played well against an opponent ranked No. 23 in the most recent AVCA poll, the Coe Kohawks were able to complete the sweep against the Lady Blues.
Lowry and Louveau each had five kills for IC in the match, tying for team-high honors. Shields,
Holly Crocher and
Mikayla Greenwood each added three apiece.
Louveau and
Eve Bahler ended with eight assists. Perkins led the defense with 17 digs, while Louveau had 16.
