Box Score 2 The Illinois College softball team split a doubleheader at Cornell College on Sunday in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The Lady Blues won the opener, 6-3, but lost the nightcap, 8-0.
Brittany Fanella and
Paige Meyer homered for the Lady Blues in the opener. Fanella was 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs. Meyer had two RBIs.
Emily Hawkins collected three hits, while
Alese Speckhart added two more. Speckhart earned the win, allowing three runs over six innings.
Leah Shumaker pitched a scoreless seventh inning for her first save of the season.
The Lady Blues were limited to three hits in the nightcap.
Amanda Price took the loss after allowing eight runs over four innings.
The Lady Blues are now 8-10 overall and 3-3 in Midwest Conference South Division play. They travel to Decatur for a doubleheader with Millikin University on Tuesday.
