Box Score 2 The Illinois College baseball team split a doubleheader at Monmouth College on Saturday to complete a 2-2 road trip playing the Fighting Scots. The Blueboys posted a 12-1 win in eight innings in Sunday's opener, but suffered a 13-8 defeat in the nightcap.
Nick Dalfonso collected four of the Blueboys' 17 hits in the opener.
Josh Krumwiede was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and
Nick Visconti was 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
T.J. Albers and
Austin Dormire had two hits apiece, and
Matthew Pardo homered in the win.
D.J. Davis was the winning pitcher, allowing one run over seven innings while striking out eight.
Chris Irvin pitched a scoreless eighth inning to finish off the win.
Dalfonso hit a three-run home run in the second game. Albers collected a pair of hits and drove in a run. Dormire scored two runs and stole two bases.
Nick Duke suffered the pitching loss after allowing nine runs (seven earned) over 5 2/3 innings. Irvin and
Casey Fair finished out the game.
The Blueboys are now 13-8 overall and 2-2 in Midwest Conference South Division play. They are back in action on Wednesday at Eastern Illinois University.
