Box Score 2 The Illinois College softball team posted its second doubleheader sweep of the week, winning a pair of Midwest Conference games at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, on Saturday. The Lady Blues won by scores of 14-0 and 13-1 in five-inning contests.
Brittany Fanella was 3-for-3 with a home run, triple, two runs and four RBIs in the opener.
Alese Speckhart was 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs.
Samantha Hereley had two hits, while
Courtney Kwasnitza and
Paige Hughey scored two runs apiece.
Speckhart was the winning pitcher, allowing just one hit over the first three innings.
Leah Shumaker pitched two scoreless inning to finish off the win.
Emily Hawkins was 4-for-4 with four RBIs in the nightcap. Kwasnitza scored two runs and drove in three more. Fanella had two RBIs.
Shumaker allowed just one hit over the first two innings in the second game.
Amanda Price came on to pitch the final three innings to earn the win.
The Lady Blues improved to 7-9 overall and 2-2 in Midwest Conference South Division play with the wins. They travel to Mount Vernon, Iowa, for a doubleheader with Cornell College on Sunday.
