Box Score 2 The Illinois College softball team was swept in a doubleheader by visiting Monmouth College on Wednesday at Kamp Softball Field in Jacksonville. The Lady Blues lost by scores of 11-2 and 11-7.
Courtney Kwasnitza collected two hits for the Lady Blues in the opener, while
Paige Cullison and
Paige Meyer drove in the team's runs.
Alese Speckhart suffered the loss after allowing all 11 runs, only three of which were earned runs.
Meyer had two hits and drove in three runs in the nightcap.
Brittany Fanella had three hits and an RBI. Kwasnitza, Cullison and
Paige Hughey also drove in runs in the second game.
Amanda Price was the losing pitcher as she allowed five runs (four earned) over 3 1/3 innings of relief. Starter
Leah Shumaker allowed six runs (three earned) over the first 3 2/3 innings.
The Lady Blues fell to 10-18 overall and 4-8 in Midwest Conference play. They host a doubleheader with MacMurray College on Thursday at 3 p.m.
