Blueboys split doubleheader with Grinnell

The Illinois College baseball team split a doubleheader with Grinnell College on Saturday at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School in Springfield, winning the opener by a 7-1 score before suffering a 9-2 loss in the second game.

Nick Visconti had two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs. Matthew Pardo and Josh Krumwiede had two hits apiece. T.J. Albers earned the pitching win, allowing just one run over seven innings, while striking out five. Dylan Sunderland pitched two scoreless innings to finish out the win.

Krumwiede collected a pair of hits in the nightcap. Visconti and Zac Schopp drove in one run each. Visconti took the loss after allowing seven runs over six innings.

The Blueboys are now 17-11 overall and 6-4 in Midwest Conference South Division play. They host another doubleheader with Grinnell on Sunday at SHG, beginning at 12 p.m.
