The Illinois College softball team scored its first win of the season with an 8-0 victory over Marywood University before suffering a 10-0 defeat at the hands of nationally ranked Trine University on Tuesday at the Dot Richardson Spring Games in Clermont, Florida.
Emily Hawkins had two hits and drove in three runs in the win over Marywood.
Paige Meyer and
Hannah Knapper had two hits apiece.
Leah Shumaker earned the shutout win, scattering five hits over six innings and tallying four strikeouts.
The Lady Blues recorded five hits in the loss to Trine, which is ranked No. 10 in the latest Top 25 poll.
Alese Speckhart took the pitching loss.
Illinois College is now 1-3. The Lady Blues return to action Thursday at the Dot Richardson Spring Games against Felician College.
