Box Score 2 The Illinois College baseball team split a doubleheader with Principia College on Saturday in Elsah. The Blueboys did not record a hit in a 1-0 loss in the opener, but rallied for a 7-5 win in the nightcap.
T.J. Albers took the loss in the first game after allowing a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the hosts the game's only run. Albers scattered just six hits over 6 2/3 innings, while striking out nine in the loss.
Austin Dormire had three hits in the second game, including a triple, to go along with two RBIs.
Matthew Pardo had three RBIs, while
Nick Dalfonso and
Austin Peck had two hits apiece. Both of Peck's hits were doubles.
Dylan Sunderland earned the win in the nightcap by pitching 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Starter
D.J. Davis gave up five runs, while striking out 10, over the first 5 2/3 innings.
The Blueboys are now 10-5 overall. They host Robert Morris University Springfield on Tuesday at Lenz Field.
