Box Score 2 The Illinois College softball team split a pair of games with DePauw University on Friday in the Lady Blues' first home games of the spring. The Lady Blues scored a 4-3 win in the opener, before suffering a 5-2 loss in the nightcap.
Paige Cullison,
Brittany Fanella and
Alese Speckhart each drove in a run in the opener. Cullison and Speckhart recorded doubles, and Fanella had a stolen base. Speckhart earned the pitching win by limiting DePauw to three runs on six hits over seven innings. She struck out six.
Courtney Kwasnitza and Fanella tallied two hits apiece in the second game, while Cullison and Fanella drove in the team's two runs. One of Fanella's hits was a triple.
Leah Shumaker suffered the loss by allowing five runs (four earned) over the first three innings.
Amanda Price pitched four scoreless innings in relief. Shumaker and Price struck out four apiece.
The Lady Blues are now 3-7. They host Lake Forest College on Saturday in both teams' first Midwest Conference action of the season. The first game begins at 1 p.m.
