JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Facing a national power for the second day in a row, the Illinois College women's basketball team was forced into 29 turnovers and dropped its second game of the weekend in a 70-39 loss to DePauw. The Tigers – ranked No. 9 in the D3Hoops.com national poll – claimed third place in the Midwest Challenge and improved their record to 4-1 on the season.

While Hannah McGinnis has carried much of the offensive burden for Illinois College this season, it was Maddy Keith doing the heavy lifting in the opening minutes. The senior guard hit her first four shots and helped the Lady Blues stick in it with DePauw. Eventually, the 14 first half turnovers forced by the Tigers began to take a toll on the game however, allowing DePauw to steadily creep away. A 6-0 run at the very end of the first half gave the Tigers a 37-19 halftime lead.

McGinnis opened the scoring in the second half by doing what she does best, getting solid position inside and creating an angle to the basket to pull IC to within 16 at 37-21. DePauw answered with an immediate 12-0 run though, opening up a 49-21 lead before McGinnis could end the stretch with another post move. Ahead by that much, it would have taken a major cold spell from the Tigers for the Lady Blues to get back into it, but DePauw's talented shooters managed to shoot 54 percent in the second half to coast to the finish line.

Illinois College was led by McGinnis' 15 points and seven rebounds. The senior forward and reigning Midwest Conference Performer of the Week also tied for game high honors with four steals. Keith ended the day with 11 points. Melissa Solorio added five points and five rebounds, while Mickalah York had four points, four boards and three assists.

After as challenging a weekend as any team in the nation might face all year, Illinois College will return to MWC action on Dec. 6 when the Lady Blues host Lawrence University in Sherman Gymnasium at 1 p.m.
