The Illinois College baseball team swept Monmouth College in Midwest Conference South Division doubleheader Friday afternoon, winning by scores of 12-3 and 3-2.
David Pardo was the winning pitcher in the first game as he allowed three runs (two earned) over seven innings of work. Pardo allowed seven hits and four walks, while striking out six.
Matt Schneider finished off the win with two scoreless innings of relief.
Matthew Pardo had two hits and five RBIs in the opener, including a three-run double in a four-run fourth inning that gave the Blueboys the lead for good.
Zac Schopp had two hits and two RBIs, one of which came on a solo home run. Josh Krumwiede had two hits and scored two runs.
Brain Davenport was the winner in the second game, allowing just two runs on eight hits and two walks, while fanning nine in 8 1/3 innings of work. Zack Hanlon got the final two outs of the game to pick up his first save of the season.
Jonathan Schrage and
Nick Dalfonso had three hits each in the second game. Schrage and Krumwiede drove in one run each in the first inning for IC.
Nick Dalfonso scored two of the Blueboys' three runs.
The Blueboys improved to 7-8 overall and 2-0 in Midwest Conference South play with the wins. They travel to Monmouth for a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
