The Illinois College softball team lost the opening game of its doubleheader with Millikin University in extra innings, but rallied back to win the second game Thursday afternoon in Jacksonville. The Lady Blues lost the opener, 7-3 in 10 innings, but won the second game, 5-2.
Anna Jacobs had three hits in the opener, while
Courtney Kwasnitza and
Paige Meyer collected two each. Abby Campbell, Kwasnitza and Jacobs drove in the Lady Blues' three runs. Amanda Price took the pitching loss after allowing five runs over the final six innings of the game. Starter Leah Shumaker allowed two runs over the first four innings.
Paige Cullison tallied three hits and scored three runs in the second game.
Jaci Forsythe and Meyer drove in two runs each.
Alese Speckhart went the distance, allowing two runs over seven innings to earn the pitching win.
The Lady Blues are now 19-13. They host Cornell College for a doubleheader Sunday, with a spot in the Midwest Conference Tournament on the line.
