Nate Jones pitched a no-hitter and the Illinois College baseball team split a doubleheader at Grinnell College on Sunday, winning the opener, 3-0, before losing the nightcap, 10-4. Jones' no-hitter is Illinois College's first since David Cripe pitched a no-hitter against Knox College in 2010.

Jones struck out 10 batters and allowed just one walk in the victory. The no-hitter is his first at any level of baseball.

"I really don't know how to describe it. Obviously, it feels good," Jones said. "I don't think it has sunk in yet. It probably will when we get back to campus."

Dave Dalfonso tallied three hits and scored two runs in support of Jones. Nick Visconti had two doubles and drove in a run. Ben Heinemann plated another run.

D.J. Davis took the loss in the second game after allowing seven runs, all unearned, over 3 1/3 innings. Ian Richardson allowed two runs over 4 1/3 innings of relief. Zack Hanlon and Chris Irvin finished off the game. Matthew Pardo had two hits and T.J. Albers drove in a pair of runs.

The Blueboys are now 10-12 overall and 5-3 in Midwest Conference South Division play.
