The Illinois College baseball team won the first game but lost the second of a doubleheader Saturday at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. The Blueboys won the opener, 5-0, but lost the nightcap, 8-2.
David Pardo stole the show in the opener, allowing just two hits and one walk in a nine-inning, complete-game effort. Pardo struck out six in the win.
Zac Schopp had two hits for the Blueboys, including a three-run home run. Matthew Pardo drove in one run and scored another. Josh Krumwiede also drove in a run.
Dave Dalfonso tallied two hits and
T.J. Albers homered in the second game for IC as
Brian Davenport suffered the loss. Davenport allowed seven runs over six innings of work. John Mason allowed one unearned run over the final two innings.
The Blueboys are now 9-11 overall and 4-2 in Midwest Conference South Division play. Illinois College and Grinnell play another doubleheader at Grinnell on Sunday.
