The Illinois College softball team won both of its contests at the Midwest Conference Classic in East Peoria on Friday, beating Ripon College, 7-3, and Beloit College, 9-0.
Anna Jacobs and Brittany Fanella homered in the win over Ripon. Jacobs drove in four runs, while Fanella plated two.
Jaci Forsythe tallied two hits and
Paige Cullison scored three runs.
Alese Speckhart pitched all seven innings, allowing three runs while striking out four to earn the win.
Cullison tallied three hits in the win over Beloit, while
Paige Meyer,
Emily Hawkins, Abby Campbell and Forsythe collected two hits each. Forsythe and Campbell drove in two runs apiece. Cullison and Meyer scored two runs each. Leah Shumaker pitched a one-hit shutout, striking out seven over five innings.
The Lady Blues improved to 12-11 with the wins. The Midwest Conference Classic continues Saturday.
