The Illinois College softball team split a doubleheader at Greenville College on Tuesday afternoon in Greenville. The Lady Blues won the opener, 8-3, but lost the nightcap, 4-3.
Amanda Price was the winning pitcher in the opener. Price pitched four innings, allowing just one run while striking out five.
Paige Cullison was 3-for-3 with a double, four runs and three stolen bases.
Courtney Kwasnitza had two hits, one of which was a triple, to go with two runs, an RBI and a stolen base. Brittany Fanella had two hits and four RBIs.
Leah Shumaker suffered the pitching loss in the nightcap, allowing four runs over 3 2/3 innings.
Alese Speckhart pitched 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to follow. Kwasnitza had two hits, while
Jaci Forsythe and Cullison drove in one run each.
Illinois College will take a 10-11 overall record into this weekend's Midwest Conference Classic at East Peoria. The Lady Blues will play all five teams from the Midwest Conference's North Division between Friday and Sunday as part of the event.
