Lady Blues beat Geneva, fall to Alvernia at Rebel Spring Games

The Illinois College softball team racked up the runs on Wednesday at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida, rebounding from a 12-9 loss to Alvernia University with a 12-5 win over Geneva College.

Jaci Forsythe and Brittany Fanella homered for the Lady Blues in the loss to Alvernia. Forsythe had two hits and three RBIs, while Paige Cullison and Fanella drove in two runs each. Anna Jacobs had a team-high three hits in the loss.

Leah Shumaker took the pitching loss after allowing 10 runs (nine earned) over 5 1/3 innings. She walked four and struck out four.

Alese Speckhart and Jacobs homered for the Lady Blues in the win over Geneva. Paige Meyer tallied four hits, while Jacobs and Forsythe had three hits each. Cullison, Jacobs and Speckhart drove in three runs each.

Speckhart earned the pitching win after tossing three scoreless innings in relief of Amanda Price.

The Lady Blues, now 2-4, conclude play in Kissimmee Thursday with games against Simpson College and Thomas More College.
