The Illinois College softball team lost to Simpson College but earned its first win of the season over the Catholic University of America Monday at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida, on Monday. The Lady Blues lost to Simpson, 11-2, before rebounding with a 4-1 win over Catholic.
Courtney Kwasnitza had two hits, including a double, in the opener against Simpson.
Paige Meyer and
Emily Hawkins drove in one run apiece. Brittany Fanella and
Anna Jacobs scored one run each. Amanda Price took the pitching loss after allowing 10 runs (seven earned) over five innings of work. She walked one and struck out one.

Alese Speckhart and Kwasnitza had two hits each in the win over Catholic. Both of Speckhart's hits were doubles. Forsythe and Speckhart drove in two runs each. Kwasnitza, Forsythe and Hawkins had one run and one stolen base apiece. Speckhart earned the pitching win, going a full seven innings and allowing just one run on seven hits. She walked three and fanned three.
The Lady Blues, now 1-3, return to action Wednesday with two more games at the Rebel Spring Games.
