The Illinois College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader Saturday at Knox College, falling by scores of 14-9 and 7-3.
Courtney Kwasnitza,
Jaci Forsythe and Kinzie Verhines homered in the opener for the Lady Blues. The game went into extra innings after Knox tied the game in the top of the seventh inning. Knox added seven runs in the top of the ninth inning to take the lead for good.
Kwasnitza and Verhines tallied two hits and two RBIs each in the opener. Leah Shumaker took the loss in the first game after allowing six runs (three earned) over the final 3 1/3 innings.
Paige Cullison tallied four hits and Brittany Fanella homered for IC in the second game.
Anna Jacobs and
Emily Hawkins had two hits each. Amanda Price took the pitching loss after allowing seven runs (six earned) over seven innings.
The Lady Blues fell to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in Midwest Conference South Division play with the losses.
