Davis, Jones, Leischner earn all-MWC status

Three Illinois College players were honored as members of the Midwest Conference South Division all-conference team released on Wednesday. Senior outfielder Terry Davis, junior pitcher Nate Jones and junior designated hitter Brett Leischner all earned all-conference status. Davis was also named MWC South Division Co-Player of the Year.
 
Davis, a senior from Bloomington, batted .453 with 12 doubles, 11 home runs, 39 runs and 48 RBIs. Davis broke Illinois College single-season records for RBIs, hits (53) and total bases (102). He matched the school record for home runs. He was a four-time MWC Performer of the Week selection during the 2012 season.
 
Jones, a junior right-hander from Belleville, was the Blueboys' innings leader in 2012, posting a 4-3 record and a 3.56 ERA in 60 2/3 innings. He held opponents to a .255 batting average, striking out 31 batters, against just 17 walks. Jones was recognized as one of the conference's top pitchers throughout the season, earned MWC Pitcher of the Week honors three times during the season.
 
Leischner, a junior from Petersburg, provided valuable offense from the middle of the lineup, batting .298 with 14 RBIs. He appeared in 24 games, starting half of them, and seven of his 17 hits went for extra bases.
