MADISON, Wis. – The Illinois College men's tennis team had multiple victories during the annual Midwest Conference Individual Tournament on Saturday at the Nielsen Tennis Center.
In singles play, IC's No. 1,
Adi Basic dropped his opening match but will advance to the consolation final tomorrow due to a bye.
Jeff Wernsing, playing No. 2, won his opening match in a three-set thriller (6-4, 6-7, 6-2) and fell in the semifinals.
The Blueboys' No. 3
Tejas Zala cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory in his opening match before bowing out in the semifinal.
Glenn Conway posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout in his first round match before losing in the semifinal.
Andrus Dupre fell in his opening match at No. 5 but will advance to the consolation final via a bye. At the same time,
Grayson Dupre dropped a three-set thriller in his opening match and, like his brother, received a bye into the consolation final.
In doubles play, IC got opening round victories from Conway and
Dalton Short at No. 2 and Zala and
Andrus Dupre at No. 3.
