Box Score 2 INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Illinois College men's tennis team stayed on its hot streak by beating Simpson and Central by identical 7-0 scores on Saturday at Indianola High School.
IC is now 8-4 this season and has won three straight contests.
IC 7 Simpson 0
The Blueboys got off to a solid start by winning two of the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead in the contest. IC got wins from the No. 2 team of
Glenn Conway and
Andrus Dupre (6-4) and the No. 3 duo of
Tejas Zala and
Ryne Breyer (6-3).
IC then rolled through the singles action, sweeping all six contests.
Adi Basic won a three-set thriller (6-4, 3-6, 10-5) at No. 1 while the remainder of the Blueboys captured their matches in straight sets.Â
Jeff Wernsing won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2, while Zala posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 3. Conway won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 and
Andrus Dupre also tossed a 6-0, 6-0 blanking at No. 5 while
Grayson Dupre closed out the victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3.
IC 7 Central 0
As it did in the morning match, IC took an early lead, this time by sweeping the doubles contests. Wernsing and Basic won 6-2 at No. 1. Conway and
Andrus Dupre earned a 6-3 victory at No. 2, while Zala and
Grayson Dupre posted a 6-1 win at No. 3.
IC sprinted to victory in all six singles matches. The tightest contests came at No. 2 where Wernsing posted a 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 win and at No. 6, as
Grayson Dupre had a 2-6, 6-2, 10-2 victory.
Basic won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1, Zala was victorious at No. 3 by a 6-1, 6-0 score. Conway posted a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4, and
Andrus Dupre won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5.
