Lady Blues Sweep, Win Streak Moves to Six

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College softball team ran its win streak to six with a sweep of Greenville on Tuesday at Lady Panther Field.

IC won the opener, 5-2, and then took the nightcap, 3-1.

The Lady Blues are now 12-6, while the Lady Panthers moved to 13-5.

Game 1: IC 5 Greenville 2
IC jumped in front with three runs in the second inning. Maddie Adams stroked a two-run single to score Ezzy Mauermann and Brooke Loveall. Alivia Darbe then had a sacrifice fly to plate Bella Thien.

After Greenville scored solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings, the Lady Blues put the game away when Thien blasted a two-run home run to close out the scoring in the top of the sixth.

Jordan Closs improved to 6-2 in the circle, allowing five hits and two runs with 10 strikeouts in her seven innings of work.

Adams and Kendall Cole each had two hits to pace the offensive attack.

Game 2: IC 3 Greenville 1
The Lady Panthers scored their only run of the contest in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead before IC rallied.

IC tied the contest in the third when Adams scored on a Greenville error.  The Lady Blues then took the lead in its half of the fourth when Mauermann drilled a two-run home run.

Cambria Currie scattered two hits and allowed a run (unearned) with seven strikeouts in going the distance to earn her second victory of the season.

Elysia Hand recorded a pair of hits to lead the IC offense.

Blue Notes
The six-game winning streak is the longest for IC since it won six straight from April 15th-27th of last year.

The Lady Blues are back on the road Saturday when they travel to Pella, Iowa, to face Central for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
