Currie Throws No-Hitter, IC Splits with 20th-Ranked IWU

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.Cambria Currie tossed a no-hitter to help the Illinois College softball team to a split with 20th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday at Inspiration Field.

The Titans took the opener 3-2 before the Lady Blues rolled to an 11-0 win in five innings in the nightcap.

IC moved to 1-2 on the young season, while this was the season-opening doubleheader for IWU.

Game 1: IWU 3 IC 2
As it has in all three games this season, IC scored first, tallying a pair of runs in the first when Alivia Darbe drove home Maddie Adams and Gabby Miller. IWU would chip away at the lead with a solo run in its half of the first before scoring the eventual game-winning runs with two in the fourth inning.

Miller, Kendall Cole, and Brooke Loveall each had singles to pace the Lady Blues offense. Jordan Closs went the distance in the circle, allowing three runs on eight hits with a strikeout.

Game 2: IC 11 IWU 0
Cambria struck out three with two walks en route to the no-hitter. She got all the run support she would need in the first inning as IC scored three times. Shelby Seiler and an RBI  and IC plated three unearned runs on a fielder's choice.

IC added five more in the second frame. Darbe, Bell Thien, Currie, Ezzy Mauermann, and Raegan Rezba all had RBI in the inning.  Maddie Adams had an RBI single in the fourth, and Emmy Renfro drilled a solo home run to close out the scoring in the fifth.

Adams and Cole each had two hits to pace the IC attack.
