GRINNELL, Iowa – League-leading Grinnell was able to turn back a valiant Illinois College men's basketball team, holding off the Blueboys, 100-93, in a Midwest Conference contest on Tuesday at Darby Gymnasium.
The Blueboys are now 10-12 overall and 7-6 in conference play. The Pioneers, who are receiving votes in the latest NCAA Division III Top 25 Poll, are 17-3 and 12-1.
Grinnell 100 IC 93
Grinnell jumped out to an early 20-8 lead eight minutes into the game, but IC came roaring back with a 17-6 run and cut the deficit to one (26-25) with seven minutes to play in the first half. However, the Pioneers would take a 52-46 advantage into the intermission.
The second half saw IC hang tight in the early stages before Grinnell pushed its lead to 10 at 83-73 with 6:53 left, but again, the Blueboys came roaring back. IC would get within two at 91-89 with 2:53 to play before the Pioneers were able to hold on for the win.
IC had six players score in double figures, led by
Ty Lenhardt's 21 points. He also had six rebounds.
Seth Doss had 14 points and six boards while
Brady Clark scored 12 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
DeShawn Nolan added 11 points, seven rebounds, and a team-best four assists.
Andrew Thomas had 11 points while
Nick Doroskin came off the bench to score 11 points and grab seven rebounds for the Blueboys.

IC will play its final road game of the 2025-26 regular season on Saturday when it travels to Lawrence for a Midwest Conference game. Tipoff is at 1:00 p.m.
