DECORAH, Iowa – Luther kicked a field goal in the waning moments of the game to sneak past the Illinois College football team, 27-26, in a Midwest Conference contest on Saturday at Legacy Field in Carlson Stadium.
IC is now 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the league, while Luther moved to 4-1 and 3-0.

The Blueboys opened the scoring on the day when
Cole Stuart latched onto an 11-yard scoring strike from
Jack Piening midway through the opening quarter, and
Mia Gerger's extra point made it 7-0.
Luther tacked on two touchdowns early in the second quarter to take a 14-7 lead before IC's
Skyler Young closed out the first half with a pair of touchdown runs – the first from a yard out and the second from 11 yards away, and the Blueboys took a 19-14 lead into the break.
IC increased its lead in the third quarter when Piening found
Aiden Porter from 24 yards out, and
Logan McCann's PAT made it 26-14 in favor of the Blueboys.
The Norse would claw back and score 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, the final three coming on a field goal with 1:09 to play, which proved to be the final scoring of the day.
Piening finished the day 26-of-39 for 286 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Stuart was on the receiving end of 10 passes for 126 yards and a score. Porter grabbed five aerials for 66 yards and a score as well. Young led the ground attack with 65 yards on 15 carries.
Ki'on Carson added 57 yards on 10 trips.
The Blueboy defense was paced by
Kolton Jany's 13 tackles, including two for loss.
Connor McDowell added 11 stops, three being for a loss.
Blaze Helton also had seven tackles and a sack.
