Fast Start Fuels Blueboys Past Beloit

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College men's basketball team started fast and blew past Beloit, 79-53, in a Midwest Conference contest on Saturday at Sherman Gymnasium.

The Blueboys improved to 5-8 overall and evened their conference record at 2-2, while the Buccaneers dropped to 5-7 and 0-3.

The opening half was all IC as the Blueboys took the lead just three minutes into the game, fueled by an 11-0 run that featured eight points from Ty Lenhardt. The IC lead grew to as much as 15 points on three occasions, including the 36-21 halftime score.

Like the opening 20 minutes, the second half was all Blueboys as they pushed the advantage to as much as 32 points, the final time coming with 2:32 remaining and IC leading 75-43.

Lenhardt led the Blueboys with a game-high 28 points, including a 5-of-10 performance from 3pt. range and an 11-for-13 effort from the free throw line. He also added four assists.

Andrew Thomas had 12 points and tied for the team-lead with seven rebounds. DeShawn Nolan chipped in with 11 points. Seth Doss added six points, seven rebounds, and a team-high six assists.

Today's contest was a makeup from the originally scheduled December 13th game that was postponed due to inclement weather in Central Illinois.
