Lady Blues Roll Past Eureka

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Illinois College delivered a dominant performance Monday evening at Sherman Gymnasium, rolling past Eureka College 96–58 in non-conference action.

With the win, the Lady Blues improve to 7-8 overall, while Eureka falls to 0-14 on the season.

Illinois College set the tone early, jumping out to a commanding 28–9 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Blues continued to build momentum in the second period, outscoring the Red Devils 33–23 to take a 61–32 advantage into halftime.

After the break, Illinois College showed no signs of slowing down, opening the third quarter with a strong run and extending the lead to as many as 40 points. The Lady Blues won the third quarter 21–11 before closing out the game with solid depth play in the fourth.

Cora DeSutter led Illinois College with 12 points and nine rebounds in limited minutes, while Danielle Beach added 11 points, six rebounds, and knocked down three from behind the arc. Anaya Patterson chipped in 11 points off the bench, and De'Jah Yankaway recorded nine points, six rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Kallie Oestreicher contributed nine points and six assists, and Kaity Robinson added nine points on a perfect shooting night.

Illinois College finished the night shooting 44 percent from the field and 43 percent from three-point range, while holding Eureka to just 31 percent shooting. The Lady Blues dominated the glass with a 57–38 rebounding advantage, scored 42 points in the paint, and turned 22 Eureka turnovers into 28 points. Illinois College also received a season-high 47 points from the bench as 18 players saw action in the victory.

Blue Notes
The 61 points scored in the first half tied for the third-most points in a half in Lady Blues history, matching a 61-point performance recorded on Jan. 28, 2012.
