Lady Blues Open MWC Play with Victory

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College women's soccer team opened the 2025 Midwest Conference season with a 1-0 victory over Ripon on Saturday at England Stadium.

The Lady Blues improved to 5-5-1 overall and 1-0-0 in MWC play.  The Red Hawks are now 1-6-2 and 0-1-0.

IC took an early lead when Abby Keeton found the back of the net off an assist from Olivia Ralston at the 28:13 mark, and the Lady Blues made that goal stand, holding Ripon to just two shots on the day.

Stella Gonzalez opened the game in goal for IC and played the first 24:57 before giving way to Jesse Trost, who finished the match. Gonzalez recorded the lone IC save in the contest.

The Lady Blues managed 20 shots on the day, led by Katy Adler and Aliza Rodriguez, who each took four. Erin O'Connell and McKenzie Murray added three apiece, while Abby Love had two.

Today's win was IC's first victory in a conference opener since the 2016 season, when the Lady Blues beat Monmouth, 2-1, in overtime.

The Lady Blues will play their first MWC road match of the 2025 campaign on Tuesday, traveling to Knox. Kick-off is set for 4:30 p.m. in Galesburg.
