Kampwerth Named SLIAC Men’s Golf Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, MO. - Illinois College senior Myles Kampwerth has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Men's Golf Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Kampwerth opened the season strong at the Highland Championships, firing a two-under 70 in the first round before closing with a 73 to finish in 11th place overall. His two-day total of 143 tied for the fourth-lowest 36-hole score in program history, highlighting a steady performance across both rounds.

The Aviston, Illinois native helped the Blueboys post a two-round team score of 593, the third-lowest 36-hole total in program history. Illinois College finished tied for seventh in the season opener, while also placing two golfers inside the top 35 of the field.

Kampwerth becomes the first Illinois College men's golfer to earn SLIAC weekly honors this season.

The Blueboys return to action next week at the Cougar Fall Classic, held Monday and Tuesday, September 8–9, at Metamora Fields Golf Course. Play begins at 9:00 a.m. Monday.
