AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Illinois College head coach
Jacob Waddle earned his 100th career win as IC topped Concordia College (Minn.) 5-3 in the first game of a doubleheader.
The Blueboys split the series, moving to 6-4 on the season, while Concordia sits at 5-5.
Game 1: IC 5 Concordia College 3
Illinois College grabbed a 5-3 win over Concordia College (Minn.) in the opener of their doubleheader. A three-run third inning, featuring a two-run double from
Tyler Barker and an RBI single from
Jon Tate, gave IC the lead. They added two more in the fifth, with
Ryne Mapes bringing in a run on a sacrifice fly and Tate scoring on a wild pitch.
Pitchers
Jack McGuire and
Connor Akstulewicz held Concordia to three runs, securing the win and marking head coach
Jacob Waddle's 100th career victory.
Game 2: Concordia College 23 IC 2
Concordia College took early control in game two, scoring eight runs in the first inning, and they never looked back. Concordia tallied 23 runs on 17 hits in the contest to split the doubleheader.
Offensively for IC,
Nathan Walker finished with two hits and scored a run for the Blueboys.
Keegan Busby scored the other run for IC and finished 1-for-1 at the plate.
