Lady Blues Suffer a Pair of 3-2 Losses in Florida

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. –  The Illinois College softball team suffered a pair of 3-2 losses on Tuesday during its annual spring break trip.

IC opened the day by falling to Gustavus Adolphus and then Lebanon Valley.

The Lady Blues are now 2-4 on the season.

Gustavus Adolphus 3 IC 2
The Gusties took an early lead with a single run in the third inning and two more in the fourth before the Lady Blues got the offense going in the fifth. IC's Raegan Rezba drilled a two-run triple to cut the deficit to one but that would be as close as IC would get. Gustavus Adolphus held off the Lady Blues for the next two innings to earn the victory.

Taylor Henry paced the IC offensive attack, collecting a pair of hits.

Jordan Closs tossed the first four innings, allowing six hits and three runs (one earned) with two strikeouts. Avery Fritz finished the final three innings in the circle, allowing just a hit with two strikeouts.

Lebanon Valley 3 IC 2
Like the first game of the day, IC fell behind early as the Flying Dutchmen scored twice in the second and once in the fourth. The Lady Blues got a run back in their half of the fifth when Rezba reached on an error that allowed Cambria Currie to score.

IC's second, and final, run came in the fifth courtesy of an RBI single by Delaney Melton who drove home Elysia Hand.

Hand, Melton, Currie, and Kayla Serpa all had hits for IC. Henry went the distance in the circle, allowing six hits and three runs (two earned). She recorded one strikeout.

Blue Notes
All four of IC's losses this season have been by one run and the last three have been by a 3-2 score.
