MONMOUTH, Ill. – League-leading Monmouth was able to hold off a late Illinois College rally and posted a 73-68 win over the Blueboys in a Midwest Conference contest on Wednesday at Huff Athletic Center.
IC is now 14-7 overall and 7-5 in Midwest Conference play. Monmouth improved to 16-5 and 10-2.

Monmouth used a 6-0 run just four minutes into the contest to take a lead it would never relinquish. The Fighting Scots led by as much as 12 points at 30-18 with 1:44 remaining in the half and took a 32-24 advantage into halftime.
The early portion of the second half saw Monmouth grow its advantage to as much as 21 points at 49-28 with 13:31 remaining before the Blueboys began a final push. IC cut the deficit to 11 points with 3:34 left and then got as close as four points in the game's final minute, the last time coming with 27 seconds to play.
Josh Harris led IC with 22 points and six rebounds.
Buzz Ritzel added 14 points and
Ty Lenhardt contributed 11 points for IC which loss for just the third time in its last 10 outings.
Blue Notes
IC has still won seven of its last 10 outings… the Blueboys have won 46 of their last 58 games and 63 of the past 75… IC has also won 35 of its previous 44 Midwest Conference contests… tonight's game ended a three-game road swing for IC… the Blueboys will play three of their final four regular-season games at home.
