Blueboys Dismantle Grinnell

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Ty Lenhardt and Josh Harris combined for 64 points as the Illinois College men's basketball team beat Grinnell, 109-71, on Tuesday at Sherman Gymnasium.

IC is 16-7 overall and 9-5 in the Midwest Conference. Grinnell dropped to 17-6 and 10-4.

The teams traded the lead early in the contest before the Blueboys jumped ahead by seven at 28-21 with 9:33 left in the opening period. The Pioneers would claw back into the contest, taking a 36-33 lead at the 6:08 mark, however, IC rallied and jumped ahead 51-44, taking that lead into halftime.

The second half was all Blueboys as IC outscored Grinnell 58-27 to put the game out of reach. The Blueboys led by as much as 43 (109-66) with 1:12 to go before closing out the final minute. IC held Grinnell to 27.5-percent shooting from the field and out rebounded the Pioneers, 45-35.

Lenhardt led IC with a career-high 34 points on 5-of-6 shooting from 3pt. range. Harris added 30 points and Seth Doss chipped in with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds. Javonte McKenzie had 12 points and Marcus Coleman had 11.

IC has won nine of its last 12 outings… the Blueboys have won 48 of their last 60 (48-12) games and 65 of the past 76 (65-12)… IC has also won 37 of its previous 46 Midwest Conference contests.
