ANDERSON, Ind.– Illinois College came up short on the road Tuesday afternoon, falling 79–73 to Anderson at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
The Lady Blues slip to 4-8 overall while Anderson improves to 5-6 on the season.
Illinois College opened the game with a strong first quarter, holding a slim 15–14 lead after 10 minutes. Anderson responded in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Blues 23–16 to take a 37–31 advantage into halftime.
The two teams traded momentum coming out of the break, with Illinois College shooting its best quarter of the game in the third. Despite a 20-point frame from the Lady Blues, Anderson matched the effort and maintained a 59–51 edge heading into the fourth quarter.
Illinois College continued to battle down the stretch, cutting the deficit to as little as two points early in the fourth. However, Anderson answered with timely baskets and free throws to hold off the comeback attempt and secure the win.
Jayln Patterson led Illinois College with a game-high 19 points on an efficient 9-of-13 shooting, while Cora DeSutter added 18 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Kallie Oestreicher finished with 12 points, knocking down two three-pointers, and Kylie Rakers chipped in nine points off the bench.
The Lady Blues shot 36.1 percent from the field and went 15-for-17 from the free throw line, but Anderson's advantage on the glass and balanced scoring proved to be the difference.
