ELSAH, Ill. – The Illinois College women's basketball team dropped its season opener, 94-90, to Principia in the opening round of the Laura Williams Memorial Classic on Friday inside Hay Field House.

The contest was close throughout. The Lady Blues held a 36-34 lead at intermission, thanks to taking the first two quarters by identical scores of 18-17.
Principia made its move in the third quarter, erasing the two-point halftime deficit and moving its lead to 65-59 at the end of the quarter. IC would cut into the deficit, getting as close as two points (92-90) with 41 seconds to play, but the Panthers were able to hold on for the win.
The Lady Blues had five players in double figures, led by
Kallie Oestreicher, who had 21 points with eight rebounds.
Jayln Patterson added a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Cora DeSutter made her IC debut with 15 points and nine boards while
Addison Minor added 11 points.
Raegen Stringer had 10 points and dished out a game-high nine assists for the Lady Blues.
