BELOIT, Wis. – The Illinois College football team posted a victory in the regular season finale and earned a berth in a bowl game with a 38-7 win over Beloit in a Midwest Conference contest on Saturday at Strong Stadium.
IC finished the regular season 8-2 overall and 7-2 in Midwest Conference action. Beloit wraps up the campaign 1-9 overall and 1-8 in the league.
With the victory, IC finished in a three-way tie for second place in the conference and, by virtue of tiebreakers, has earned a berth in the Lakeside Bowl, which will be held next Saturday in Milwaukee, Wis. The Blueboys' opponent and kick-off time will be announced tomorrow.
IC 38 Beloit 7
IC jumped ahead early.
Tanner Spencer put the Blueboys on the board with a one-yard run at the 6:25 mark of the first quarter.
Toby McTamney added a 23-yard field goal to make it 9-0 at the end of the opening period.
The second quarter remained scoreless before Beloit got on the board 50 seconds in the second half, but IC scored the final four touchdowns to put the contest away.
IC's onslaught began with a pair of touchdown runs by
Lleyton Miller in the third quarter. The first was a three-yard run and the second was from 18 yards out.
Skyler Young opened the fourth quarter scoring with a one-yard run before
Kyle Leonard closed out the scoring for the day, latching on to a four-yard scoring strike from
Cole McKey.
The Blueboys had a balanced attack on the day, passing for 264 yards and rushing for 246. IC outgained the Buccaneers 510-169.
Young led the ground attack with 77 yards on just seven carries. Miller had 74 yards on 13 trips, and Spencer chipped in with 63 on 11 carries.
Tyson Elliott finished the day going 16-for-26 for 137 yards. McKey was 8-for-10 for 127 yards.
Once again, IC's defense was stout and balanced. Five different players led the team in tackles with three.

Drake Stuart all recorded a tackle-for-loss.

The Blueboys have now won 23 of their past 27 regular-season conference games… IC has also won 28 of its last 34 games overall.
