JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College women's tennis squad dropped a pair of Midwest Conference matches on Saturday at the Bellatti Tennis Complex.
The Lady Blues opened the morning by falling to Cornell, 7-0, and then lost to Grinnell, 7-0, in the afternoon dual.
The Lady Blues are now 9-7 overall and 1-3 in conference action.
Cornell 7 IC 0
The Rams opened the match by winning all three doubles matches. IC's tandem of
Sophie Muir and
Lily Ingram dropped a tough 7-6 (4-0) decision at No. 2.
In singles action, Cornell was able to win all six contests, but four of the six matches were decided in tiebreakers, including
Alyssa Wise at No. 1,
Clara Bach at No. 2,
Morgan Keefe at No. 5, and
Sabrina Ingram at No. 6.
Grinnell 7 IC 0
Grinnell posted three wins in the doubles action to take a 1-0 lead early in the dual.
The Pioneers took five of the six singles contests in straight sets.
Lily Ingram dropped the No. 4 singles match in a tie-breaker.

The Lady Blues close out the regular season with a Midwest Conference road trip next weekend. IC will travel to Lawrence on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. before venturing to Ripon for a 3:00 p.m. contest later that day.
